Let's see we've been here for 25 minutes and Jackson hasn't left this station.  Is this the original apple art?  Old school style!  He's totally figuring out how to use the roller ball and button, whivh I have to say is a little harder than a mouse for little hands.

I'm still laughing

So I heard eurythmics coming from upstairs & I went up to investigate.  This is what I found: guitar in hand, jumping, jamming.  He was so proud to have discovered this box plays music...and he can turn it up really loud.  I only had shown him how to use the radio for listening to books on tape previously.  That is quite boring compared to this.  Presently we've got GNR blaring.  Good times!!

Firetruck fieldtrip

Jackson asked me on the way home from school today if I've ever seen a real firetruck.  So we went over to the Fossil Park station and had our own little tour with the firemen (and woman).  It was SO great!  Jackson asked really good questions.  Then we went to the library and a ton of really great books, some on firetrucks, some on dinosaurs, and some about star wars.  Then on our way to the car we found this really cool bug.  So COOL!!  Is it a grasshopper if it's not green??

New tile on front porch stairs

I am sorry to say these are my most recent shots. My camera was broken in a series of unfortunate events last weekend so there'll be a hold on updates for a while - unless I can borrow someone elses camera of course! There's a shot down the stairs from upstairs. A veiw from my new kitchen through the dining room and into the family room. And a view from the street - excuse the telephone pole!

Starting with the bottom picture you can see the start of the framing of the second floor. Then the stairs go in. By the time the hardee board siding went up in the third picture all the rooms on the second floor were framed out ready for drywall. The third picture from bottom is the view from the backyard, looking at the deck and french doors. Sometime in the future we'll expand the deck, but keeping it small (and affordable) for now. The view from the 4th picture (from bottom) is from the alley. There's a new concrete landing and the 2+ garage is to the left of the red dumpster (out of the picture). The top picture shows how they moved the archway. They are framing in the old doorway and the plastic is covering the new one. They were able to keep the historic value of the home by replicating the arches throughout all the new construction.

Goodbye Strange Wedding Cake

Our house had this strange feature ever since we purchased it. It was a 3 foot high concrete structure that resembled a 3 layer wedding cake located outside in the patio area. We never really were sure what it's purpose was. But it ended up just collecting outside junk. Well it had to be removed to make for the new and now it's gone. Apparently, it was hiding some lost and forgotten spigot.

Carport Rebirth

We had a carport that was demolished to make way for the garage. Apparently, a lot of the wood from it could be salvaged and has been re-used throughout the new construction. These are some of the few places where it has been used.

Look for the 'White' pieces of wood.

Used as a temporary support for the 2nd floor over hang.

first dinner party

I had The Flints over for dinner on Sunday and it turned out to be perfect timing to walk on the new concrete slab poured for the dining room. Thank goodness because I don't know where else we would have eaten...on the floor? It was a perfect evening to have the breeze coming through the doorways!
